CLOSING CEILIDH IN THE GREAT HALLDon't forget your Dancing Shoes!
The day’s program in The Great Hall will end with a ceilidh (“kay' lee”) at 4:30pm. Music will continue until either the dancers or the musicians give up! Originally, a ceilidh was a social gathering of any sort, and did not necessarily involve dancing. But it has evolved over the years to refer most often to a lively get-together featuring traditional Celtic music and dance. Céilidh music may be provided by an assortment of fiddle, flute, tin whistle, accordion, bodhrán and other acoustic instruments. The basic steps of many ceilidh dances can be learned easily; a short instructional session is often provided for new dancers before the start of the dance itself.
The music at our Ceilidh will be announced here as the festival nears. Bring your dancing shoes! Whether you’re a skilled step dancer or a total beginner, you are welcome at the ceilidh and sure to have a grand time.
